Client: Naitonal Grid
Project Type:
Civil
Project Date:
2009

Project Brief:
Install new 125mm fire main and 63mm site water supply over a distance of 1600 metres across farmland and through 132kv compound

Our Approach.

Carry out all required service statutory checks and agree with the land owners and client a safe route that would provide the least disruption. The method of installation in this instance was via the use of a Mastenbroek trencher. This plant allowed the water mains to be installed quickly and efficiently with the minimum of fuss and disruption. All excavations through the HV compound were by hand and by the use of our Vacuum Excavator. All our team on this project was HSG 47 competent, which again allowed for a swift and smooth installation of the mains.

Outcome
The new mains were tested and purged upon completion and now offer the site years of trouble free supply. Part of our package was to provide the client a hand held GPS with point locations loaded showing all positions of the new main and each location of the new welded joints. This offers the client knowledge if they decide to extend or T into the main and furthermore in the event of further excavations on site or across the farmland, the location of the main can be offered up to remove the risk of accidental damage.
