Demolition of National Grid 650kv ITS substation

Following the submission of our comprehensive tender package, Ducron was awarded the project to demolish and remove from site all traces of the existing 650kv ITS. The main challenges were,

• Ensuring a safe site at all times,
• Working within a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) zone,

The project required close interaction with Natural England, including the production of all RAMS providing evidence and procedures that would conform to the strict requirements of working within a SSSI area. Dungeness is home to extremely rare fauna and flora and this was represented and managed throughout the project. Upon completion of the works Natural England’s appointed agents praised Ducron for the quality of control and minimised air pollution throughout the project.
